Same day 4 years ago. When it was possible to travel, do fieldwork, be an anthropologist, go out, to Omani museums and to al-ghubrah Pakistani beautician for upcoming weddings to observe and exotic-self-satisfaction. My computer erased most of what i use as data but did its best to keep useless selfies. Which makes 2020-21 fieldless anthropologists really miserable.
PS: what do fieldless fielworkers do? "work"?
PPS: I remember the "subversive" 'abaya I used to borrow from my host-mother. White like dishdashas, it drew criticism as it did not help to meet the desired results.
